What is your opinions of this? Good idea? Bad idea? Criminals or cyber vigilanties or freedom fighters or something gay like that?
The wealth and power behind facebook makes it hard to believe a group of hackers could pull it off but they've done some pretty big stuff before. I doubt it will impact anyone very much anyway. It will definatly be used as part of a massive viral marketing campaign by google for Google+.

Good Idea - Stopping to smell the roses.
Bad Idea - Stopping to eat the roses.
I just had to!

I've only paid a kind of vague attention to their exploits, but the impression I've always got was that they're just computer nerds that like to pat themselves on the back about managing to fuck with important websites and networks. It's a bit pointless.

They have posters up around downtown vancouver rallying for the cause. It bothers me, seeing this shit around the place, plastered with guy fawkes masks and headless suits, saying "come join us!" while advertising some forum and /b/. The forum is something you have to sign up for. Which kind of ruins the idea of anonymity, doesn't it? As for /b/... not exactly a good place to plan anything like this, nor a place to tell people to go to in support of internet activism. Unless activism includes checking for doubles, looking for tits, or being a ponyfag. After what happened with PSN, i wouldn't put it past people to attack facebook, and wouldn't be surprised if they managed to do something. It just seems a bit attention-seeking. I kind of wish they would go back to stuff like Finding people who tortured cats, or Finding pedos on Chatroulette. or even managing to flood youtube with porn (i can't find the link, it's on ED somewhere, sitr's as slow as shit today). Effective and chaotic. I suppose there's the whole scientology debacle as well, but where that started good, it descended rapidly into anons meme-spouting in public, in large groups, and had fuck all to do with why the movement was started. Then again, it's a different anonymous I guess. Well, the same, just full of different people. Most of them probably use facebook as much as us, or more, yet want to be involved because it's somehow "cool". Which makes me hope it fails; so we won't get people associating themselves with it, doing fucking nothing, and claiming the glory.

More bullshit from Anonymous. Something actually has to be done about these morons, I mean I'm all for anarchy and attacking the establishment when it actually has a reason or accomplishes something, but this is just dick waving of the highest order.
