I don't think it counts as cheating if you're only imagining it. Unless you're in a relationship with the most controlling partner ever. Sure everyone most people think about things once in a while...

Not to be smart, but the context in which David framed his original statement didn't allow it to apply to people who weren't sexualised - meaning that it didn't apply to asexuals, and therefore Billy's correction was applying to the same group as David's, as he didn't correct the context, and therefore means that Billy was referring to sexualised people - and in that context, his use of the word normal isn't insulting, and is cause for another interesting debate... do all sexual people have these kinda thoughts from time to time?

Also, another thing. Warning, i'm going to be pedantic here... people constantly misappropriate the term "normal" to mean something that it doesn't. Saying something isn't normal isn't an insult - unless it's purposely used as one, with malice. I don't think that's what happened above. Asexuality is not a bad thing, of course. I admit to only being recently educated on it. However, I don't think you could argue that asexuality is normal. It's completely natural, but since it represents about 1% of people, it doesn't conform to the norm, and is therefore not normal.

Ahh, so you DID mean it when you said I'm not normal?
How about this - when you're talking about other people whom you have privilege over, don't assume you get to be judge and jury of what they should or should not find offensive. You're sensitive about ways other people are privileged over you, so it would make sense to assume other people are too.
There is no such thing as a "normal" person, so to tell someone that they are not "normal" is offensive, always, because it is a statement that their differences are inferior to your differences - that you are more privileged and important than them.

Not to get involved in an argument her, but by very definition there is such as thing as a normal person. A norm is a medium state, an average. In order for there to be a spectrum of individuals, there must be a norm. That doesn't necessarily place a positive or negative spin to the word (unless it is either intended or taken). I in fact wouldn't include myself in most norms. I am not the normal weight, I am not the normal height, I don't have normal tastes in Music and Movies etc etc. I myself feel that some of these are positive, some negative, but all have a relationship to the norm.

There is no such thing as a "normal" person, so to tell someone that they are not "normal" is offensive, always, because it is a statement that their differences are inferior to your differences - that you are more privileged and important than them. That's not true. As I stated above, the word normal means something. If I say something isn't normal, it isn't labelling it as inferior to me - i'm simply saying it isn't usual. It's perfectly possible that i'm abnormal about that thing also, but in a different way. It is only an insult when (a.) it is thrown out in a sarcastic manner or in a pointedly insulting way, or (b.) when somebody (very often in error) decides to take it as an insult. And i don't know what incidence you're talking about when you say that I said you're not normal. But I can guarantee that I didn't mean it as an insult. I don't make a habit of insulting the people I love. But, by your own definition - there is no such thing as a normal person - and I agree. There are too many variables in any one person for anyone to be normal. It would be like trying to get a consensus in a jury with 50,000 jurors. It would never happen. However, norms crop up whenever you study any 1 variable: favourite colour, preferred time to go to bed, how many days a week do people work... they exist for all kinds of stupid things, and we're all abnormal on a lot of them. So don't get insulted. I really do feel that I have explained quite well why no insult should be taken. It's just lively chat/debate. Once people start getting offended, then it's time to stop.

I had a dream where people kept buying me boxes of Yu-gi-oh cards and then a small demon thing with a big skull head caught me while I was crawling through a tiny version of my room. He then bit my hand and when I pulled my hand back his head came away as well and started laughing but then he still had his head on with the other one on the floor. Yeah. That was a weird one.
